Missing status bar?

I am used to look at addresses of active links at status bar. That's why I always have status bar visible in Firefox. But there is no status bar in Chrome. The active link address appears in a auto-hide strip at the bottom of the page. When the focus is removed from link, the address disappear. Nice idea!

but i think there should be option for auto-hiding, some times we need to see the link in development process

The URL is visible at the bottom of the page as you are over the link.

It's the same behavior as in Firefox, except that the Firefox status bar is always taking portion of your precious screen space.

ya that's true but in development process when we needed to see the url of any link it show it's path to the limited width(not in firefox).........

Hmm, you are right, Chrome is shortening the URL when it's too long for it. That may be a problem for web developers and I see no option to disable URL shortening.

You know in firefox or internet exploder, there is this nice feature called fullscreen to maximize space when i need it.

So optimizing screen space seems to be an absurd excuse.
